This is the County Council's strategic plan for the region and includes a guided bus system running between Huntingdon and Addenbrookes crossing the Cam alongside the railway line. The camToo Project would therefore provide an essential component for implementation of the strategy

This includes the building of a 'Parkway' station on Chesterton Sidings. The camToo Project could bring this closer by providing the embankment for the extra railway tracks needed between Chesterton and Cambridge station for this project

Cambridge Cycle Campaign
The Cambridge Cycle campaign promotes use of bicycles. One of their schemes is the 'Chisholm Way' a cycle-way from Histon to Addenbrookes alongside the railway line. The camToo Project will provide an essential element of this cycle-way.
It will also provide a practical alternative to Newmarket Road for commuters cycling in from the Park & Ride and beyond, and simlarly for commuters from Milton as the camToo route avoids the steep climb over the A14 as well as the pollution. of Milton Road.

Transport 2000
A website promoting wider use of railways including re-opening the Cambridge – St Ives railway line – The camToo Project would not prevent this, however re-opening the railway line would need more rail tracks between Cambridge station and Chesterton.
The camToo Project could provide sufficient material for this as well.

Sustrans – a national wide network of leisure cycle-ways
Sustrans are the organisation behind the cycling 'road' currently (Spring 2002) being built acoss Stourbridge Common on both sides of the railway embankment. The camToo Project would effectively relace this with a shorter route along the new river

Cambridge Fish Preservation Society
The river Cam between Cambridge and Baitsbite Lock is reported as offering some, if not the, best fishing in the South East of England. The camToo Project would add another mile to this and reduce the opportunity for conflict between different users of the Cam

Amateur Rowing Association
The ARA is rowing's national body in England. Their Development Plan, unfortunately not available on line, identifies Cambridge as one of four sites in the country to be given priority in terms of applications for Sports Lottery Funding

Camboaters
Camboaters is a boating community based in Cambridge, in the UK. There are approximately 200 live-aboards on the River Cam plus an additional 70+ holiday boat owners. It's a vibrant, diverse community of all ages and professions; employed by a large number of Cambridge's technology and commercial businesses, University departments, local schools and social services. In addition, several people run their own businesses from their boats.

Cambridge Rowing Lake
This is a privately financed project which is complimentary in rowing terms to The camToo Project – indeed if more than a select few Cambridge based crews are to take advantage of the Lake, the congestion on the river will have to be cleared.

Cambridge Canoe Club
This is the website for the ‘town’ club, there is also a university club. In general the canoe clubs use the river upstream of Cambridge rather than downstream.

CASTIRON
The CASTIRON organisation is a group proposing to revive the dormant St Ives railway line in stages claiming they can provide a transport link from the St Ives and the new town at Oakington much quicker than the County Council's guided bus system.
Ultimately they plan to run into Cambridge Station - and will need the level crossing at Fen Road closed to achieve a freqent service. Started early August 2003, by November they had nearly 500 members.

Cambrail
A website operated by Alex Reid, Lib Dem County Councillor campaignor for the revival of the St Ives - Cambridge railway line and the introduction of traditional electric trams between the Station and City Centre.
The camToo route between the Science Park and City Centre will provide an alternative.

Hunts Post 'Boot out the Bus Campaign'
The Hunts Post has opposed the guided bus-way along the old St Ives railway line and wants it re-opened as a railway. This will still need extra tracks from where the line joins the existng railwa in Chesterton to cambridge Station. The camToo Project can provide the embankment for these tracks

The Great Ouse Boating Association (GOBA) represents boaters on the rivers Great Ouse, Cam, Lark, Little Ouse, Wissey and associated East Anglian waterways of England.
More than 40 years old, we have over 3000 boating members.
